


TIBETAN MONKS FROM THE TASHI LHUNPO MONASTERY - THE POWER OF COMPASSION 11th July 2008 ![]() Tibetan Monks from the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery bring their unique performances of sacred Tibetan chant, dance and music to Sudeley Castle on Friday 11th July. The Power of Compassion is a dramatic, entertaining and informative ninety-minute performance of the majestic masked dances and the sacred chant from Tashi Lhunpo Monastery - one of the most important of Tibet's teaching monasteries. The monks, from their re-established monastery in exile in South India, present a taste of the culture of Tibet, and of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in particular. The performance commences at 1.30pm and lasts for approximately 90 minutes + interval. Tickets are £10 each and can be booked on line or purchased from Sudeley's Visitor Centre. Drop in Workshop The national tour coincides with the release of the Monk's new CD 'Dawn till Dusk', which features many previously unrecorded Buddhist prayers and mantras from the monastery's rich heritage, passed down over the centuries through generations of Tantric masters, along with a prayer written by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Schools Workshop There will be a Schools Workshop at 11am – 12pm. Places are limited to 50 and pre-booking is essential. £3 per head for the performance only or £4 for the workshop and performance.
