St. Mary’s Church was restored between 1855 and its rededication in 1863 by the Dent family, after sitting in ruins as a result of the Civil War.
Queen Katherine Parr lies entombed in the church, the only English queen to be buried on private land.
During the open season monthly Evensong services are held in St Mary’s Church at 3:30pm. The dates for the 2018 season are as follows:
