Visitors to Sudeley Castle can enjoy the magic of Christmas at the castle we opens our doors in November and December for the first time this year.

We have extended our opening season until December 21st offering visitors the chance to enjoy this magical time of year at one of the country’s most spectacular castle settings.

As the winter evenings draw in, the castle and its gardens will be illuminated by a spectacular lighting display as we hosts our “Spectacle of Light” event on selected dates throughout December.

Visitors can follow the white rabbit along a breath-taking illuminated trail and meet some of the fabulous characters from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Also marvel at the glorious lighting displays of meteors, Moroccan lanterns, a field of poppies and much more.

A new series of Christmas craft workshops are also taking place throughout November and December. Visitors can learn how to create beautiful Christmas wreaths, hand-made crackers, decorate baubles, or try their hand at seasonal hand-lettering or marbling.

The craft workshops run on selected dates beginning on November 9, from 10am-11.30am and cost £45-£50 each, including admission for the day.

Wendy Walton, our General Manager said: “Christmas promises to be a magical time at Sudeley Castle; it is such a beautiful setting and we are delighted to be able to share it with our visitors as we open in November and December for the first time this year.”

Another highlight for visitors to Sudeley this winter is an exhibition showcasing the great British dinner party which will see a series of spectacular images displayed throughout the castle, of the most opulent dining rooms of castles and stately homes across the country.

The event offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the world of high-society fine dining and includes tables set out for lavish meals at estates including Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Anglesey Abbey, Waddeson Manor and Clarence House.

The exhibition runs from November 4 until December 21 and will also showcase Sudeley Castle’s elegant library, set up for a formal dinner party, as would have taken place there in years gone by. A festive menu will be on offer in the terrace restaurant.

Sudeley Castle’s recently-refurbished exhibition is also open daily until December 21st, telling the 1,000 year history of the site. Both exhibitions are included with general admission.
