Lady Ashcombe is the guest editor of the September issue of Cotswold Life magazine.
Lady Ashcombe, Sudeley’s longest-serving chatelaine, has assembled a stellar cast of Cotswold characters and notable figures with connections to the castle as guest editor of a special issue of Cotswold Life magazine showcasing Sudeley’s stories and rich history.
Contributors for the September issue include actress Elizabeth Hurley and musician Billy Ray Cyrus, entrepreneur Trinny Woodall – who once worked as Lady Ashcombe’s PA at Sudeley – the effervescent broadcaster and chef Dame Prue Leith and renowned historians Philippa Langley and David Starkey.
The issue delves into lesser-known stories from the castle’s past alongside humorous reflections from Lady Ashcombe’s family and friends. It has also allowed a light to be shone on Sudeley’s fascinating collections while exploring recent research that has rewritten elements of the castle’s history that were accepted for centuries.
‘I was incredibly flattered to be asked to be the first-ever guest editor of Cotswold Life, and it was a joy to feature so many friends, family and colleagues talking about their interests and links to Sudeley,’ explains Lady Ashcombe. ‘I’m particularly thrilled to be back in print following my previous column for Cotswold Life and to once again be sharing the castle’s stories with readers.’
Lady Ashcombe wrote for the magazine from 2007-2009, and her insights were later captured in the publication Behind Castle Walls. Following the September issue she will be penning a new monthly column for Cotswold Life, with more tales from life at Sudeley over the years and reflections as its custodian in the modern era.
